Scout Vessel:

The primary purpose of a Scout Vessel is to monitor the survey area prior to and during survey operations, with particular focus on identifying local fishing activities: documenting the location, description, type and ownership of identified fishing equipment.  Additionally, the scout vessel may need to interact with local fishermen and the Project Fisheries Liaison to deploy and/or move their equipment to a different area to ensure safe survey operations while minimizing any impacts from the survey operations on fishing activities and gear. Scout Vessels will typically operate a few nautical miles ahead of the survey vessel to deconflict the survey area prior to the survey vessel entering.

Guard Vessel:

The intended purpose of a Guard Vessel is to allow Avangrid Renewables to control and mitigate the risk of offshore incidents and monitor the safe movement of third-party vessels (i.e., those not engaged in New England Wind construction works) such as fishing vessels, recreational craft, or merchant ships around the construction site 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Guard Vessels should have the agility to intercept non project related vessels entry into the construction area with minimal notice. Guard Vessels will also support Project Vessels during emergency situations and should be equipped as such.
